Last-Minute Creative Gifts!

Ikonhaus

So are you suffering from a bad case of “buyers
block” – you simply can’t think of a thing to buy for the people on your
list. With the Christmas deadline
hurling toward you, you’re getting nervous, no?
Don’t worry Madrid
is full of innovative gift solutions at great prices – we’ll get your creative
consumer juices flowing.

Ikonhaus, for example, is ideal for the fashion-ista in your
life. Here you can design your own clothes
by choosing the color, style, size and icon.
If you don’t consider yourself a “grand artiste”, don’t worry. The icons have all been designed by resident
artists. It is a fool-proof plan!

And speaking of creativity, Panta Rhei is a haven for the
artistically oriented. This generously
sized shop is stacked with every sort of art book you can imagine. The selection here is impeccably chosen and extremely
international. Be warned you can get
distracted for hours.

Continuing with the art theme we have Pinta en Copas. What Ikonhaus does for clothing, this little
shop does for cups, plates and other ceramics.
Customized colors, personalized messages – the sky is the limit. Here, however, you are not only choosing from
ready-made designs, you are the “artiste” brush in hand!

If the idea of custom cups is alluring, but the idea of
painting them yourself is a bit intimidating, perhaps PlazaArte is a
compromise. Here you can pick up
colorful pop art gifts from cups to buttons to lamps and t-shirts.

And if pop art isn’t quite edgy enough for your tastes,
swing by Subaquatica. This small shop
has loads of hip-hop/graffiti shirts, books, buttons and paraphernalia. The books span the globe, but the clothes and
bags are primarily by local designers.

And if local designers are what you are after, don’t miss
Cosas Por Dinero. This little alterna-holiday
market in Lavapiés can set you up with the most creative and authentic locally
made wares.

Finally, if you are looking to bring a bit of conjugal creativity
into your life, don’t miss Los Placeres de Lola and Juguetería. These shops have extremely open atmospheres making question-asking and gift-buying a
breeze.

So get busy – times tickin’!
