The most
centrally located and luxurious of Melía’s hotels in Madrid is the Gran Melía Fénix. Situated to one side of Plaza Colon, the Gran
Melía Fénix sits on the doorstep of both the exclusive Barrio de Salamanca and
Paseo de Recoletos. Designer shops,
excellent restaurants, the city’s art museums, Retiro
Park, the National Library and Cibeles
and Neptune fountains are all within walking
distance.

Gran Melía Fénix

The hotel
dates back to the mid-19th century, when it was a mansion belonging to a
wealthy banker. Its interior is a neoclassical
mix of cool marble and brightly colored décor.
The hotel’s rotunda and glass copula are particularly stunning.

The Gran
Melía Fénix has hosted such famous guests as Gregory Peck, Cary Grant, Gloria
Swanson and Rita Hayworth. The hotel’s
rooms range in size from 25 to 53 square meters in size and are decorated in
Louis XIV style. Suites begin at 60
square meters and end at 200 square meters with the Presidential Penthouse
Suite. The hotel also has a restaurant,
piano bar, business center and wellness center.
