hotel group that owns the Palacio del
Retiro, Madrid has
yet another luxury hotel, the Santo Mauro.
This 51-room hotel is housed in the old residence of the Duke of Santo
Mauro. The hotel is in all actuality a
small palace designed in the French style.
The hotel’s restaurant is in the old library, while the ballrooms have been
converted into conference rooms. The
hotel also has wonderful gardens; a covered, heated pool; free minibar; 24-hour
laundry service and a business center.
Rooms run between 279 and 389 euros, while a suite is between 425 and
1,070 euros per night.

Although
the Santo Mauro Hotel is located in the center of Madrid, it is not quite as centrally located
as the Palacio del Retiro. All of the
major landmarks are about 20 minutes away by foot. However, the hotel is located in one of the
most beautiful and exclusive neighborhoods in Madrid, making every stroll out the door a
nice opportunity to see beautiful architecture and interesting shops.
