William Sackville West and Francesca Zuniga opened City Yoga in 2003, a space that combines yoga practice and natural therapy. With natural light, warm rich smells, vibrant colors, comfortable chairs and natural juices and teas in the reception area, it is difficult not to feel mentally and physically at peace here. The yoga classes offered include: Iyengar, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Therapuetic, Hatha, and Power yoga. What makes City Yoga unique is that each class is designed and catered to the needs of the student. For example, if a woman in her forties wants to start practicing yoga, she would maybe feel more comfortable doing Hatha yoga, whereas someone in their mid twenties might be better suited for Vinyasa yoga. There have also been classes designed specifically for those women going through menopause. The classes help women find natural ways to cool the body down. Over the years, the yoga for kids and the pre-natal yoga have become very popular. The center also offers a post-natal mommy and baby program, which teaches new mothers yoga postures to help facilitate the breastfeeding process. Along with yoga, the center offers massages which include: traditional therapeutic, anti stress, reflexology massages to hot stone, Ayuvedic, facial, and Thai leg massage. There is also a flotation tank. The flotation tank looks like a covered bathtub. It has 300 kilos of salts and 600 liters of water. The point is to float, relax the muscles, and feel happy again! The tank allows the body to regain its balance and, after a one-hour session, the body feels as if it had been submerged for four. Did I mention that classes are taught at the same time in English and Spanish same? Really, this place has it all.
