Clive Owen Stars in The Boys Are Back

In ¨The Boys Are Back¨ (Solo Ellos) Clive Owen plays a bereaved father who must raise a household of two kids, one a curios six year old boy and the other a rebellious teen, each in a different stage of youth and with their own conflicts and ambitions. Set in South Australia, the film walks a fine line between drama, comedy, and plain old nostalgia. The film is directed by Scott Hicks and also stars Emma Booth, George MacKay and Laura Fraser.  Enjoy the film in its original language at Yelmo Cine Ideal;  for information on the theatre and tickets click here.

Green Zone Comes to Madrid

Director Paul Greengrass’ new film, Green Zone,  focuses on a military officer who attempts to understand the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Sounds like pretty hefty stuff, but Greengrass—who has directed Matt  Damon before in the Bourne Identity series and who has built up a reputation for creating frenetic tension—is likely to bring a good balance between plot substance and a whole lot of explosions and war action. To say this movie is bound to be very critical of the Bush administration is stating the obvious, but this is no Fahrenheit 9/11—after all, if they put Matt Damon in there it must be because he’s going to throw a few punches.  The movie is playing  at Cines Yelmo Ideal at the Calle del Doctor Cortezo 6.

Now Playing in Madrid: The Book of Eli

Apocalyptic movies seem to be in fashion and the newest one, “The Book of Eli”, comes in the recognizable forms of Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman. Eli (Washington) is a lone warrior with a mission—and not just any mission of course, but one that involves mankind’s only hope.  Walking the dry and desolate roads of a destroyed America, Eli must protect his mysterious book from road robbers, psychopaths, weirdoes and all kinds of lawless freaks…Sounds like fun! Catch the film in its original version at Yelmo Cines Ideal.

Cines Ideal Madrid: The Clash of the Titans

Epic special effects and 3D cinema continue to infiltrate popular culture with The Clash of the Titans, which premieres in Madrid on March 31st. Starring Avatar star Sam Worthington, who plays Zeus’ half human son Perseus, the film takes inspiration from many of Greek mythology’s most celebrated tales to create a modern kick ass action film. Also starring are Liam Neeson as Zeus the king of the gods and Ralph Fiennes as Hades, ruler of the underworld. Watch the film in its original version at Cines Ideal and Cines Renoir.
