- Las Horas Café: “While some cafes in Madrid give you the feeling of being seen, Las
Horas Café provides you with the opposite sensation – that of being
pleasantly clandestine.” - J & J Books and Coffee: “If you have the hankerin’ to read some books in English, the friendly
folks at J & J Books and Coffee will be more than happy to help out.” - La Via Lactea: A throwback to La Movida movement where everybody loves the 80s.
- Malabar: If you’re looking for a lively part of town in the
evenings the Plaza de Dos Mayos is the place to be. Malabar on Calle
San Andres is a great place to watch the people passing by. The red
lighting in the bar gives off a funky vibe. The bar is never packed,
and there is a downstairs, so you are bound to find a place to rest
your legs. Drinks range from three euro to ten euro. - Nietzche Bar: “A new concept in bars, especially for this barrio, Nietzsche seeks to
up the cultural ante. Whereas bohemian art bars are a dime a dozen in
Lavapiès, this space takes a more fine-arts approach.” - Lavartebar: “The inexpensive and unique food also sets Lavartebar apart. Where else
in this hood can you get tostas with bleu cheese and nuts or salmon
with brie?” - Café Barbieri: “Entering Café Barbieri transports you back to a time of high,
baroque-detailed ceilings, red velvet curtains, and old-style jazz.” - Los Placeres de Lola: “A refreshing combination of café and erotic boutique.”
- Jellyfish Cafe: “The DJs Thursday -Saturday spin everything from chill-out to jazz to
Bosa Nova and always at a volume that encourages conversation. The
cocktails are all under 7 euros and include refreshing Mojitos, hardy
bloody Marys, and a Jelly Fish Drink that successfully blends Ron de
coco with melon flavors.” - Cafe Antik: Looking for a nice cozy place to relax? Well, this might be
the best place to do it. The bar is small and dark. The furniture is
all different sizes. The chairs, sofas and tables look like they’ve
been bought at a thrift store. The light and decoration make the mood
extremely intimate. If the ground floor is filled try the downstairs
where they have more seating and the feeling is even more private. The
Mojitos are great and because of the price, you may just want to order
two!
Drinks range from five euro to ten euro. - Melounge: Drinks, pinchos and art exhibitions!
- Café de Los Signos: “The first café to cater to and be run by the deaf.
- El Matador: Maybe the cutet bar in Madrid!
- La Coquette: “Legendary Madrid blues bar.
- The Glass Bar: Welcome to Hotel Urban, one of the most luxurious five
star hotels in Madrid. If you are looking for a cocktail in a friendly,
extravagant and remarkably laid back environment then head to the
hotel’s Glass Bar. The bar is enclosed by floor to ceiling glass
windows and the floor is lit from underneath. Order whatever your heart
desires from the bar and you will get some tasty chocolates for free!
The crowd is older, well dressed and lively. To make sure you can get a
seat, you may want to arrive around eleven thirty pm. Another highlight
of this hotel is the Terraza, which is another bar located on the roof.
The terrace boasts a wonderful view of the city. Because of its
location, the rooftop bar fills quickly. The best time to go is on
Sundays. Located at thirty-four Calle San Jeronimo, the drinks are
around twelve to fourteen euro.
