Bar Nike – Where to Start Your Night

Like so many
gems, this bar is encrusted in a crude and craggy geode-like shell. Walking by, nothing would catch your eye
except possibly the hordes of cute gay boys on the curb.

Inside the décor is about as
charming as your high school cafeteria – industrial tiles cover the floor,
florescent lighting seems intent on destroying the ambiance, and the utterly
baige walls don’t help a bit.

But in spite of this, a
certain magic exists. No, forget that
last sentence – that’s a phrasing far too romantic for this particular dive. What exists are the cheapest, biggest drink
this side of Eastern Europe. This expains the hundreds of dirt poor,
counter-cultural boys who flock there every weekend. But combine all these strapping lads with
potent beverages served in containers the size of fishbowls and
perhaps some magic will ensue.

This bar closes early by Madrid standards (2 AM),
which is why it is the first on everyone’s list. The schedule: swing by Nike and get your buzz
going for the night, then venture out to the other clubs.

Well worth a visit.
