Swinging
beds suspended from the ceiling, an enormous well-furnished terraza, physically
flawless go-go dancers, distinctive dance floors bumpin’ to diverse DJs… Ananda has everything you’d expect from a
big-name Madrid club plus a few surprises.
That is
everything good and bad. In addition to
the above-mentioned amenities, you also have imposing doormen who get a bit picky
about who enters, a slightly higher than normal cover (15 euros), and enough
attitude to fuel a nuclear reactor. But
let’s be honest, these are the elements that mythologize the more exclusive
clubs. If you don’t like this scene, see
our “hole in the wall” section for the other end of the spectrum.
Having
weighed the pros and the cons, Ananda is probably something every club-prone
party kid should experience at least once in their
To begin
with, you simply aren’t going to find a larger more sensually appointed terraza
– the owners describe the décor as a Hinduist/Moroccan fusion. Another benefit is that at Ananda, you don’t
have to choose between enjoying the beautiful summer evening and going to a
nightclub – here the two are seamlessly fused.
In addition to that, the dance floors are divided into the decadent
bed/sofa/chez-lounge main room and the hyper minimalist white room offering
something for everyone. Beyond that, the
crowd is made up of extremely good-looking 20 and 30-somethings all looking for
a wild night out.
Of course,
the high season at Ananda is summer when the terraza is in full swing. However, the club itself is enclosed during
the autumn/winter months allowing year-round enjoyment.
All in all,
a very potent, particularly
mix.
