A Salto de Mata: Organic Food
If you’ve been looking for a health food connection in Madrid, A Salto de Mata is the place for you. Although it isn’t large, it’s as big as any you’ll find in this city. Small but dedicated, they not only insure that all their products are organic (except the detergents), they have also adopted the philosophy of bioregionalism meaning that all the food was grown locally not shipped thousands of miles on polluting forms of transport.
So whether you are looking for hardy brown breads, tofu, beet juice or seaweed, you ought to be able to find it there. Also notable is their fresh produce, selection of wines and array of environmentally friendly detergents. Anything that can’t be found on site can perhaps be tracked down via their bulletin board or in one of their free alternative publications.
In addition to all this, upstairs they offer physiotherapy, reflexology and chiropractic massage.
